Walkthrough

Note about getting to the BCNM: This fight is actually in Talacca Cove. However, to get there the first time, you must follow the full steps for the previous mission, to get the key item Percipient Eye. The second time (whether a retry, or just helping someone else), unless you have an Ephramadian Gold Coin on you already, you'll want to go to the cemetery (west of Nashmau) where you get one anyway; Just NW of there, is the fastest way to get to Talacca Cove for the BCNM, without the free warp to it from the previous mission.

The coin, gives you access to the cutter, which gives you the cutscene, which gives you the key item to do the fight. The coin itself, is not strictly neccessary for the fight, once you have the Percipient Eye

In The Fight:

  • All buffs and TP are wiped upon entry.
  • Examine the Rock Slab. (Targetable wall inside caves, not a ???)
  • 6 members will enter a BCNM.
    • You have 30 minutes to complete the battlefield.
    • You do not lose any experience points if you die here.
    • Remember that, in case of a wipe, everyone should die outside of the main arena, since they couldn't be Tractored there.
    • Gessho has approximately 13,000 HP.
    • Uses standard Ninjutsu spells, ranged attacks, and Mijin Gakure.
    • Fairly evasive, ~65% hit rate without sushi or Madrigal.
    • Some of his TP moves are renamed Yagudo special attacks. All of his TP moves are as follows:
    • Periodically teleports around the arena.
      • Usually uses one of his TP abilities upon reappearing.
      • Seems to teleport due to a shift in hate.
    • Spawns 3-6 weak clones of himself, trigger condition unknown, each clone has around 2,000 HP. He can do this more than once, and it's possible (but unlikely) that he won't do it at all.
      • Clones don't hit hard, they can be kited by a mage with Stoneskin easily (Phalanx recommended).
      • Clones can use his special abilities and Ninjutsu.
      • Clones de-spawn after 10-20 seconds. They share their initial target with the original but hate is not linked. Clones won't always all de-spawn at the same time; the kiter needs to be sure all clones are gone before rushing back into the main fight. On a rare occasion a clone will stay and battle the party for up to 30-35 seconds.
      • The clones seem to use Mijin Gakure in conjunction with the NM himself, leading to heavy damage.
      • The clones will also use TP attacks and/or Ninjutsu in conjunction with the original, regardless of their TP.
  • Gessho says the phrase "Feel the fire of my conviction!" right before using Mijin Gakure; this may be your only chance to stun it.
  • He can Mijin Gakure at any time, triggers are unknown if there are any.
  • He gives up around 10-15% health. (Not at 15%)
  • Should you wipe, Gessho will regen health to full. This occurs whether he has DoTs on or not.
  • One possible set up is: PLD/RDM, WHM/RDM & RDM/WHM (healing), BLM/WHM (kiting clones), 2 DD
(see testimonials)

If you are repeating the mission to help someone, you WILL NOT have the Percipient Eye. However, this DOES NOT mean you cannot enter. Regardless of if you have it--after you've finished the mission, of course--you will still be able to go inside the BCNM.
