Walkthrough

• Go Batallia Downs and enter Cavernous Maw at H-5. You get a cutscene and now you are in the past. (Note: now there is (S) designation next to map name to let you know that you are in the past).

• Head to Batallia Downs (S) and go to (J-10) to enter The Eldieme Necropolis (S).

• In The Eldieme Necropolis (S), talk to the NPC named Erlene at (J-8). During the CS she will ask for 12 sheets of Vellum.
  • Optional Trade up to 12 stacks of Rolanberries to Tucker (K-8) in Crawlers' Nest (S) for sheets of Vellum. Each stack you trade will get you one sheet of Vellum. Note: You get 3 'trade turns' with Tucker - make use of them wisely by trading 4 stacks of Rolanberries at a time so that you can get all 12 Vellum sheets. He will not take more than 4 stacks per trade and he will refuse all Rolanberries after 3 trades. (This will cost you 17,280 gil if you buy the Rolanberries from NPC in Jeuno). Or you can buy them in the AH under Materials> Leathercraft (Please Check ffxiah.com for your price check on the Vellum stack on your server.). Tucker will only trade with you if you have talked to Erlene first.
  • Rolanberrys are under Food / Ingredients

• Trade 12 sheets of Vellum to Erlene for another CS, she will mention the forms of magic both Black and White Magic.

• Activate your 2hr: Chainspell, Manafont, Astral Flow, or Azure Lore and talk to Erlene for a third CS. You will recieve the Key Item: Grimoire and may now become a Scholar
  • Chainspell, Manafont, Astral Flow or Azure Lore is required to complete this as mentioned in the cutscene.
  • Benediction cannot be used for this since it does not have a sustained energy flow.
  • If neither your BLM, RDM, SMN, nor BLU is Level 30, the quest must be flagged on a different job which meets the requirement. However, you must still return with Chainspell, Manafont, Astral Flow, or Azure Lore for the last CS.
  • You can only enter a Maw in the present if you have used it in the past first except the first when you randomly chosen one. Whatever zone it drops you in (Rolanberry, Sauromugue, or Batallia) is the Maw you must use to re-enter the past if you leave didn't go to the present with another Maw.
  • NOTE: When you go through the Cavernous Maw for the first time, after the cutscene, you may be dropped off in Sauromugue Champaign; it is important that you unlock (go back from) another Cavernous Maw before leaving the past. Otherwise, this Maw requires you to travel Gate Breaches in Garlaige Citadel to get access to the Maw.

• You must zone in order for Scholar to appear in your Job levels list.
